Environmental Management

We assess the environmental effects of all products, projects, policies and operations with a view to reducing and controlling environmental impact. We are presently in the process of implementing an Environmental Management System covering all of our operations with a view to attaining BS EN ISO 14001 in the near future.

The policy addresses the use of energy, water and waste, and seeks to prevent and limit incidents which may directly or indirectly impact the environment. The policy also seeks to continually improve environmental performance where it is practical and economic to do so. In fulfilling our client obligations we will:

  • Wherever possible carry out CCTV surveys without pre-cleansing negating the requirement for large volume clean water usage.
  • Examine alternative method of survey i.e. floating techniques to prevent significant pumping usage & potential damage to wildlife (fish/toads/newts etc).
  • Use natural filtration systems to contain silt and prevent turbidity & potential pollution of water courses.
  • Shut down engines on generators and pumps immediately after use to conserve energy.
  • Choose access routes to site to minimise damage to crops and natural habitats.
  • Any contact with SSSI sites will involve detailed consultation and agreements with designated representatives from the EA and English Nature for example.
  • Carry out work and route planning to minimise mileage, Off road vehicles will travel to site in 2 wheel drive mode for fuel conservation.
