Boskey Dyke CCTV Inspection

When one our key clients (The Environment Agency) asked us to assist with a difficult project we knew we were in for a challenge. Boskey Dyke on the Trent Estuary has a culverted section of watercourse which passes under a sea wall and then descends to a submerged outfall. A CCTV survey was required from the outfall end of the culvert to determine the integrity of the structure and check for exfiltration into the sea wall itself, as there was evidence of water penetration.

Having agreed a safe system of work with the EA and consultants Black & Veatch, we were able to proceed. Timing of this project was critical as the submerged outfall could only be accessed at low-tide. In conjunction with their supervising engineer, the outfall flap was winched open and secured, allowing the cctv camera assembly to be placed into the culvert. With good planning and deployment of experienced engineers and the right equipment (at the right time), we were able to deliver a good result.
