Pollution Tracing

Establishing causes of pollution through various survey methods out is a pre-requisite for many projects. Using a variety of methods to trace pollution within a drainage network, we are able to provide clients with updated electronic plans showing actual and potential sources of contamination within a system. Comprehensive data sets based on laboratory sampling of silt or water removed from the system, allows us to identify the type of pollutants present along with appropriate disposal methods. Our close liaison with clients and the Environment Agency allow us to achieve good results. Key components of a pollution survey are as follows:

  • Outfall and catchment inspection for evidence of pollution
  • Installation of non intrusive solid traps at strategic points throughout the catchment
  • Full reports in digital format of pollution found at outfalls and in manholes
  • CCTV surveys can then be used to identify the areas of cross contamination and misconnections
  • Recommendations can be made as to the cause of the pollution and any remedial actions required
  • Existing sewer records can be checked for errors and full manhole cards can be produced
  • Survey teams specialising in man entry surveys can be mobilised where large direction pipes are involved
